As a team of new graduates, we built a framework that would engage, enhance & retain new hires.
The framework based on IBM's grow organic strategy won the Best Vision Award at the GIC We Deliver Competition
Using Microsoft's technologies like Azure, Netduino & Twilio API, our team built a 2 step verification system called Authnet. Through this 35$ solution, you could let your friends access your apartment through AuthNet's webapp, receive notification if someone tries to break in and see the logs of who accessed your apartment
Workstation Setup/Documentation
Before I joined Panorama, it used to take 1 month for a new developer on the team to setup his workstation. As a team of new graduates in Halifax, we documented every problem, step and solutions with screenshots on the wiki. This drastically reduced time from 1 month to mere 3-4 days to setup the workstation.
As a result we were able to cut down the cost by 3 weeks per resource enabling new resources to start delivering after being for 1 week on the account.
Overdelivering for 2.5.7 Beta Release
As a team of early professionals in Halifax, we were faced with a daunting task of delivering critical solutions for the 2.5.7 release.
We leveraged the senior resources based in Burnaby and coordinated with our counterparts in India only to find out that we had overdelivered vs the client's expectations. As a team, we recieved special mention from scrum master and clients for this accomplishment.
Campus Ambassador
Interacted with students from Halifax, represented IBM at various campuses and helped the IBM recruiting team in recruitng young talent.
Junior Achievement Program
Organized and trained IBM volunteers to participate in the Junior Achievment Session. As a part of this initiative, IBMers visited a number of high schools to teach young students how to build their careers
Participated in ECF Campaign

Professional Development Summit :
This conference was held at the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre to present keynotes and networking opportunities to enhance young professionals' skills in the workplas. Its focus was on software QA, information processing, management and business analysis.

Campus Recruitment
Approximately 50% of our new hires are recent graduates and as such, campus recruitment is a huge factor in our success as a centre.
MBA :
I learned the skills for administration, team management and project management that I use every day with IBM. It placed me in a role in which I was able to develop and gain new business skills.
ISTQB :
The International Software Testing Qualifications Board is an international institution that teaches quality assurance methodologies and practices that I use in my position as a QA test leader. This is the standard for quality assurance certification that is used all over the globe.
HPALM
This is a tool that is used for quality assurance test management within the mobile/iOS/Android paradigms.
IBM Testing Tools
Integration of an IBM tool with a market leading tool won IBM essential client contract work. I lead a team of 17 quality assurance analysts on a mobile banking project for a large national Canadian bank.
Team Utilization
As a team, IBM quality assurace was able to outperform other vendors working on a project and have had better results despite having a smaller number of people assigned to the work load. Caring about the team and ensuring that every individual was kept in tune with their goals resulted in a very high utilization rate.
Mentoring
Mentoring and teaching new grads from both consulting and QA test management perspectives was not a new experience, however I had never done so for such a large group. The original team was only 6 people but as a result of those peoples' commitment to excellence, we were able to grow to almost 3 times the size. This enabled me to gain more experience working closely and getting to know early level hires as well as mentoring and leading a large team.
I have successfully completed SAP Trainings of courses HR306 - Configuration of Time Recording ,HR311 - Time Evaluation Without Clock Time and BC400 -ABAP Workbench Foundations. These courses improved my skills in SAP by helping me to perform deeper analysis and difficult configurations.
I also completed Brighter blue training which enhanced my client services and communication skills.
Overcoming Limitations
One of my achievement in my project was to work on a very non-standard request from PNS to convert hourly employees on open work schedules and making them salaried pay from hourly pay. It was not a recommended best practice as we advised PNS, however, they persisted in requesting this change. This solution was very important for business because they were going to hire/update over 300 Seasonal employees. The complexity of the solution increased because these employees did not have fixed bi-weekly hours. This was a long standing ticket which through my tenacity I was able to close; this was quite imperative for the team and client as well. I did require a lot of direction since it required very advanced and deep expertise, exploring pay period salary proration and factoring. We noted down all the assumptions taken in consideration for the configuration and created documents for business to make them aware of the new solution going to take place. Following the IBM Practice “Put the client first” I took up the challenge, did an enormous amount of testing and outlined for the client what SAP can do and what limitations exist.
IBMer
I would like to mention that being an IBMer and working with such a great team members is my biggest achievement till now.
Nova Scotia Steady State
I am working as a SAP HCM Consultant for the Province of Nova Scotia Steady State project. Very early on, I was acknowledged by my manager and SAP Lead for taking the initiative to research/look up and participate in formal SAP training relevant for my role. My leadership then helped them develop a training plan for others. Within a year of experience, I became the Queue Manager for the SAP Time Management team. As per the role, my responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing and providing the first level of problem solving for every ticket received. This role has helped me develop and hone my skills in all areas of SAP Time Management. I put in a consistent effort to ensure all requests are actioned within SLA targets. My throughput in this area has been called out by the client and my SAP Lead as being substantial.
SAP Migration
Along with the steady state project, I have participated in SAP Migration, upgradation and Enhancement pack projects. I developed my general HCM business process skill by participating in these additional projects. During these activities I performed testing as required for all areas.
SMU Student Ambassador
I joined IBM in June 2013. I was lucky to join the new grad group of this centre. Being an early member of new grad group, I represented IBM at Saint Mary's university as a student ambassador in the first IBM info session in Nova Scotia.

I have also enrolled in blue buddy program for the new joiners. Blue Buddies is an IBM program that pairs early professionals with experienced IBMers to help smoothe the transition into a new job, the blue buddy will answer questions about the organization and ensure any HR issues are resolved
